We know that you are experiencing a whole gamut of emotions as a new mom…we want to help!
New Moms Process Group provides a safe, nurturing space to process the psychological aspects of new motherhood: all of the challenges, complexities, chaos (and joy!) that this massive life transition entails. This group also serves as a support for mothers struggling with symptoms of Postpartum Depression and Postpartum Anxiety.
New Moms Process Group explores how becoming a mom impacts our identity, relationship with our partner and feelings about family and career. Group members share what they are going through in the early days of motherhood in this highly personal, confidential forum and, in turn, provide support and friendship to one another.
Sample Topics include:
- Baby Blues vs. Postpartum Depression
- Identity change
- Changing relationship with partner
- Changing relationship with family and in-laws
- Feelings about how the birth went
- Feelings about career
- Psychological issues of breastfeeding (or bottle feeding)
- Fears in motherhood
- Expectations and perfectionism
The group is led by Laurie Finberg, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Mother. Laurie facilitates a rich dialogue between group members while teaching practical tools for coping with common anxieties of new motherhood. This is a group for Moms that want to go deep! Babies hang out (sleep, eat, play) as Moms TALK.
