We understand that the adjustment to parenthood can be overwhelming, confusing and intense. You may be experiencing feelings, emotions and/or difficulties in your relationship that you’ve never experienced before. A Mother’s Haven offers affordable psychotherapy sessions (for individuals, couples and families) all conveniently located here at our store.
Private sessions can be scheduled with Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Laurie Finberg (MFC # 82185) to explore and process any issues or difficulties you may currently be experiencing.
These include but are not limited to:
- “Baby blues”
- Postpartum Depression/Postpartum Anxiety
- Birth and Labor trauma (with EMDR)*
- Adjustment to parenthood
- Career concerns/career-motherhood balance
- Changing identity
- Marital dissatisfaction and adjustment to baby
- Jealousy over new sibling’s arrival
- Conflict with family members and/or in-laws
Parents are welcome to bring babies into session if child care isn’t an option. We have all the toys, bouncing balls, nursing pillows and changing apparatus you’ll need.
Ms. Finberg is also available for phone and Skype sessions.

About Laurie Finberg, LMFT:
Laurie Finberg is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (#MFC 82185) in private practice in Studio City. She specializes in treating Anxiety and Depression with a clinical focus on Perinatal issues and Postpartum Depression. She also specializes in substance abuse treatment. Ms. Finberg received her Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University. She trained and worked in the field of addiction treatment at Promises Treatment Centers, where she worked with those struggling with addiction, the issues underlying and the impact this had on the entire family system.
Ms. Finberg is trained in EMDR* (Eye-Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) an integrative approach to treating trauma. She uses EMDR to treat labor and birth traumas, as well as a wide-range of distressing, confusing feelings in early motherhood. Ms. Finberg works from a Cognitive Behavioral and Humanistic perspective with an engaging, collaborative style.
She runs Mommy & Me and New Moms Process Group as well as the Expectant Moms Process Group at A Mother’s Haven.
