Newborn Classes: Everything You Need to Know

In this evidence based class you will learn essential skills needed to take care of your new baby in a fun, informative, hands-on approach! The class is a must take for all expectant parents to gain confidence in your new roles as parents. The small group setting allows for more personalized attention as you are given information to help you care for a new baby, gain an understanding of newborn behavior and needs and develop parental confidence. This is a great class also for grandparents and any other family members or friends that will be helping with your newborn.

In this Caring for Your Newborn Class you will:

  • Learn how to hold a newborn
  • Learn hands on about bathing, diapering, changing clothes and swaddling
  • Learn about cord care, nail care, nose care, feeding (breast, formula and bottle), burping, sleep habits, soothing a crying baby, illness (what to look for), tummy time, physical characteristics of a newborn, what to expect in the hospital
  • Learn what items you will want to have on hand plus a lot more

This 3-hour Caring for Your Newborn Class is held in-store on Saturdays once a month. The small group size allows the teacher to personalize the class to your needs and questions. Handouts and materials are provided. Please contact the store if you would like a private class either in person or over Zoom.

What You’ll Learn in Our Newborn Care Class

You’ll get hands-on practice with essential baby care basics, from diapering and swaddling to soothing techniques and sleep patterns. The class covers topics like newborn appearance, common newborn traits, and when to contact your pediatrician. You'll also learn about feeding, breast milk storage and bottle prep.

This newborn baby care class is taught by health professionals in a relaxed, supportive setting. Many parents pair this with prenatal classes, such as Childbirth Prep and Baby Feeding, as well as Prenatal Yoga.
