Prenatal Yoga Class: Build Strength and Bond with Baby

Prenatal Yoga provides a relaxed and nurturing atmosphere where you can enhance the bonding process with your baby while supporting the development and strengthening of your body, mind, and spirit during pregnancy. The yoga exercises and postures, deep breathing techniques, and mantras greatly impact the quality of your pregnancy and birth experience as well as the many changes your body and emotions go through after the baby arrives. This class ends with an extra-long relaxation period. This class is also a wonderful opportunity to meet other expectant mothers as you transition into motherhood.

The benefits of regular prenatal yoga practice will provide you with the healthiest and most peaceful pregnancy possible. Prenatal yoga practice can also help ease morning sickness, alleviate edema, and prevent varicose veins. The benefits of regular postnatal yoga practice will provide you with core and pelvic floor strengthening, increase overall strength and flexibility and you will gain upper body strength and stretch shoulders to promote healthy spine movement and openness for breastfeeding.

In this class you will:

    • Help strengthen the pelvic muscles – instrumental in the birthing process, and post-birth, strengthen your body.
    • Exercise and strengthen the uterus so that it functions more efficiently and increases the potential for normal delivery.
    • Exercise the spine and help reduce backaches.
    • Aid in proper digestion and circulation, and regulate breathing.

This 1 hour and 15 min. class is held every Thursday evening. If you would like to bring your own yoga mat, feel free! Otherwise, we do have mats available for you to use, we just asked that they are wiped down after each use. We also provide all of the yoga props such as blankets, bolsters, straps, etc. to make a variety of postures possible and comfortable for everyone.

Why Prenatal Yoga? Benefits for Moms and Babies

Prenatal yoga classes offer more than body flexibility. These classes are a lifeline during pregnancy. For expectant mothers, each movement is designed to relieve common aches, ease tension, and promote stress reduction. These gentle yoga classes also help prepare your body for labor by strengthening your core and pelvic floor while teaching you to tune in with mindfulness practices.

But the benefits go beyond the physical. When you practice prenatal yoga, you'll feel more peaceful inside. It helps your blood move freely through your body and teaches you to breathe deeply and calmly. You get to hit pause, take a deep breath, and truly feel close to your little one.

Practicing regularly can help you feel stronger, more in tune with your growing belly, and more prepared for birth and postpartum life. It’s also a great way to meet other moms navigating this unique season.

Frequently Asked Questions:

How soon can I start prenatal yoga during pregnancy?

You can begin prenatal yoga as early as your first trimester, once your doctor approves. Many people start after the first few weeks, once early symptoms ease. The sooner you begin, the more time you’ll have to build strength and confidence for the months ahead.

Are the classes safe for all stages of pregnancy?

Yes, our prenatal yoga classes are designed to be safe and supportive for all stages of pregnancy. We offer modifications for different trimesters and encourage you to listen to your body. Our instructors are experienced in guiding pregnancy-safe movements throughout each session.

What should I bring to class?

You’re welcome to bring your own yoga mat, water bottle, and any extra support you like, such as a cushion or blanket. We provide mats and props if you don’t have your own, and we wipe everything down between uses. Just come dressed comfortably and ready to move.

How long is each class?

Each class is 1 hour and 15 minutes. That gives us time for breathwork, movement, rest, and community, without rushing or pressure. There’s space to adjust positions, take breaks, or pause for comfort. It’s a complete experience for body and mind, perfectly paced for pregnancy.

Can I bring a partner or friend for support?

Our prenatal yoga classes are designed with you in mind, but supportive friends or partners are welcome if space allows. Please call ahead to check availability. Some prefer to practice solo, while others enjoy sharing the experience. It’s totally up to you.

Do you offer virtual or online prenatal yoga classes?

At this time, we offer in-person sessions only. These classes are designed to build in-the-room connection and support. If you’re looking for online options to supplement your practice, ask us. We’re happy to guide you to trusted resources until virtual sessions become available.
